We are looking for a Compliance Officer for an Agriculture and Commodities company based in the UAE.
Location – Dubai, UAE
Salary – 30,000 - 35,000 AED/month
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law, finance or a related field; legal qualification and relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) are strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in compliance roles, with a proven track record of supporting or contributing to the development and implementation of compliance programs in a regulated industry.
- Thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex situations, identify risks, and develop solutions.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards, with a commitment to upholding the company's values and promoting a culture of compliance.
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Program Management: Support the Group Senior Compliance Officer in working with subsidiaries and other stakeholders’ to help oversee the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of the company’s compliance programs. Ensure programs address UAE and international legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, particularly in the areas of Ethics and Integrity, sanctions, export regulations, risk assessments, Anti Bribery and corruption, and other sector-specific regulations.
- Regulatory Monitoring & Reporting: Horizon screening and monitor changes in local, national, and international laws and regulations. Keep the compliance leadership and executive team informed about compliance-related developments, risks, and recommended actions.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks and recommend preventive actions to mitigate those risks. Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that all operations adhere to applicable regulations.
- Internal Audits and Investigations: Support and/or coordinate internal audits and investigations in response to compliance issues or potential violations. Ensure that appropriate actions are taken to address non-compliance and develop corrective action plans.
- Compliance Reporting: Prepare and present regular compliance reports to senior management, highlighting key risks, audit findings, and compliance performance metrics. Report on the effectiveness of compliance strategies and propose necessary adjustments.
- Collaboration with Legal and Business Units: Collaborate with the Trading desk, legal, information security, IT, and other departments to integrate compliance considerations into business operations and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Training and Awareness: Assist in the development and delivery of regular compliance training programs to employees at all levels of the organization, ensuring that staff understand their compliance responsibilities and the importance of ethical business practices.
- Third-Party Management: Support with the compliance aspects of third-party relationships, including vendor and customer screening and due diligence, compliance aspects of contract negotiations, and ongoing monitoring to ensure third-party compliance with applicable laws and company standards.
- Compliance Focus Areas: This role will be involved in building out the company’s compliance function, with hands-on exposure to anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), sanctions compliance, data privacy, conflicts of interest, and broader corporate ethics initiatives.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Arabic speaking Ethics and Compliance Officer to join the company’s in-house compliance team.
The Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the company’s compliance program. Reporting to the Group Senior Compliance Officer, this role ensures that the company adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Compliance Officer will work closely with Internal stakeholders and subsidiary companies to help shape and operationalize compliance strategies that align with corporate objectives, mitigate risks, and support business growth.
