Job Description
We are looking for a Structural Design Coordinator for a construction company based in Dubai.
Location – Dubai, UAE
Salary – 16,000 – 18,000 AED/month
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required.
- Candidates with a Civil Engineering degree alone will not be considered unless the qualification specifically meets the Structural Engineering requirement.
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, structural design coordination, or a closely related construction role.
- Must have hands-on experience with structural calculations for temporary works; experience calculating an entire project is not required.
- Strong understanding of structural design principles, construction drawings, specifications, IFC drawings, and shop drawings.
- Previous experience working within a main contractor or contractor environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary design coordination across Structural, Architectural, and MEP disciplines.
- Experience coordinating design submissions, RFIs, consultant comments, approvals, and revisions throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Familiarity with UAE construction requirements, regulations, and authority approval processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM tools is highly desirable.
- Experience with document management platforms such as Aconex or A-Site is advantageous.
- Strong coordination, organisation, communication, attention to detail, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple design activities and deadlines within a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid UAE Driving Licence is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate structural design activities between consultants, subcontractors, engineers, and internal project teams.
- Review IFC drawings, structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and technical submissions to identify discrepancies and coordination issues.
- Carry out and/or review structural calculations for temporary works, ensuring designs are technically sound and suitable for site execution.
- Support the preparation, coordination, review, and approval of temporary works design submissions and associated documentation.
- Coordinate structural requirements with Architectural and MEP disciplines to achieve fully coordinated and clash-free designs.
- Raise and manage RFIs, track technical responses, and ensure design issues are resolved efficiently.
- Liaise with CAD and BIM teams to coordinate model updates, drawing revisions, and design changes.
- Track design deliverables against the approved project programme and proactively follow up with consultants and subcontractors to meet deadlines.
- Assist with the review of shop drawings and material submittals for compliance with IFC drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers and records of design submissions, approvals, revisions, and consultant comments.
- Ensure only the latest approved drawings and design information are issued for construction.
- Identify design changes that may impact project cost or programme and coordinate with Commercial and Project teams accordingly.
- Support Safety in Design (SiD) principles and identify structural/design risks and appropriate mitigation measures.
- Ensure design documentation complies with applicable UAE regulations, authority requirements, contractual requirements, and company HSE standards.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Coordinator to support the Design Manager and project delivery team in coordinating structural design activities across construction projects in the UAE. The role will focus on the coordination, review, and delivery of structural design information, with particular emphasis on structural calculations for temporary works, IFC drawings, shop drawings, design submissions, and technical coordination. You will work closely with consultants, subcontractors, engineers, BIM/CAD teams, and internal project stakeholders to ensure designs are accurate, coordinated, buildable, compliant, and delivered in line with project programmes.
